Taste of Rhodes: Village Cooking, Wine & Traditions

Discover Rhodes through its flavors with a unique gastronomic experience that takes you into the island’s culinary traditions and village life. This 4-hour experience takes place in Apollona, a traditional mountain village in the foothills of Mount Profitis Ilias, and combines food, wine, local stories and warm Rhodian hospitality. The experience begins with a visit to a women’s agricultural cooperative, where you will meet the local women behind traditional Rhodian delicacies and learn how time-honored recipes are preserved. After a relaxed walk through the village, you will visit a local winery to discover local grape varieties and enjoy a tasting of Rhodes’ award-winning wines. The highlight of the experience is a hands-on Greek cooking class with a local cook. You will learn how to prepare classic Greek and Rhodian dishes such as tzatziki, eggplant salad, dolmadakia, traditional cheese pies and fresh Greek salad, using local ingredients and authentic techniques. The experience concludes with a homemade lunch, where you will enjoy the dishes prepared together in a friendly, communal setting. Before leaving Apollona, you will also visit a historic village café and learn the secrets of making traditional Greek coffee.
